Oulun Kaijonharjussa vetämäni avoimet valokuvakävelyt huipentuvat nyt ulkoilmanäyttelynä Kaijonharjun ympäristössä ja ensiviikolla julkaistaan vielä pienlehti aiheesta. Karttoja jonka avulla voi kävellä teosten luo löytyy Kaijonharjun Kirjastosta.

The open photo walks held in Oulu's Kaijonharju culminate in an outdoor exhibition. Photo works can be found around Kaijonharju. Continuing in Next week a small Zine type of magazine will be published. You can get maps from the Kaijonharjun Library, which you can use to walk to the works.

dérive – kuljeskelu

 

Olet tässä -yhteisöllinen taideprojekti aloittaa yhteiset kuljeskelut Pikisaaressa. Tervetuloa mukaan kuljeskelemaan yhdessä Pikisaareen torstaina 6.5.2021 kello 18. Kuljeskelu alkaa Art Hub Pikisaaresta kello 18. Kuljemme yhdessä entiselle Korkeasaaren sahan-alueelle, jossa Riitta Prittinen-Maarala kertoo teräsjuurisesta puusta. Matkalla poikkeamme Pikisaarta kiertävältä polulta tutkimaan ympäristöä ja kartuttamaan kokemuksia. Toivottavasti myös inspiroidumme!

Dérive tarkoittaa kuljeskelua, harhailua, ajelehtimista ja poikkeamaa. Se on kuljeskelua kaupunkiympäristössä, jossa sallitaan ympäristön tai hetken mielijohteen johdattaa matkaa ja päästetään irti tavanomaisista liikkumisen motiiveista ja seurataan ympäristöstä nousevia impulsseja, annetaan paikkojen ja maaston vetää puoleensa ja vaikuttaa tunteisiin. ”Kuljeskelua” on kehittänyt 1950-luvulla erityisesti rankalainen taiteilija Guy Debord. Hänen mukaansa Dérive on viehättävän epämääräistä harhailua maantieteellisessä tilassa.

CATHERINE LUDWIG: NATURE TRANSFORMATIONS Exhibition opens on 7th of January 2020 at 17:00

“In my work, I deal with different epochs, periods and spaces. Among other things, there are questions about leisure and culture in connection with (pretended) nature and public space. Who can use the public space and for what? What concept of nature are established and how do these ideas on the other hand form spaces that are accessible for tourism purposes? There is a desire for untouched nature that is marketed in pictures, but in reality, it can hardly be found anymore. In the age of the Anthropocene we are threatened with the loss of the experience of nature, because almost everything is developed, climbed and exploited. We are part of the nature and are well on our way to sustainably damaging it. But we, the humans, are the loser in the long term. Because nature reacts according to its own laws, it is impossible to negotiate with it in the traditional sense. It is characteristic of humankind that our interventions in nature backfire on us..."

The first exhibition of Neliö-Galleria in 2020 will feature works by Viennese artist Catherine Ludwig. In 2020, Neliö-Galleria will celebrate its 35th anniversary by taking a step towards more international program and activities. One of these steps is the collaboration with international Hotel Infinity collective founded by Oulu-based sculptor Minna Kangasmaa. The aim of the collaboration is to bring new, interesting contemporary art to Northern Finland, and to offer opportunities for local artists to showcase their work in more international arenas.

Neliö-Galleria, an art gallery located in Oulu, is one of the oldest private art galleries in Northern Finland. In September 2018, it became the first private artist-run gallery in Oulu, when the painter Kirsi Tervo began to maintain the gallery. Each year, the gallery presents 12-13 high-profile exhibitions in the fine arts and has always free entry for the public. In addition, Neliö-Galleria is also the organiser of the Small Northern Art Week, a one-week intensive exhibition displaying the current works of local artists.

The first co-organized international exhibition at Neliö-Galleria will feature works of Viennese artist Catherine Ludwig, a member of the Hotel infinity collective. Catherine Ludwig’s solo exhibition NATURE TRANSFORMATIONS is shown at Neliö-Galleria in Oulu from 7th of January until 2nd of February 2020.

Catherine Ludwig, a Bavarian artist born in 1976, has been living and working in Vienna for nearly two decades. Ludwig is a transmedia artist and transcends the barriers between different media in both her work process and end result.
Ludwig has studied graphic design for five years in Nurnberg and transmedia art at the University of Applied Arts (prof. Kowanz) in Vienna. Her diploma yielded the award of Kunsthalle Wien in 2006.
Singe 2004, Ludwig has represented in numerous international and national exhibitions, and her works are available at the collection of Ursula Brickle Video archives. Recently she has participated in artist-in-residences in Taipei 2006, Berlin 2007, Sochi 2011, Hartheim 2012, Judenburg (A) 2013, Laugarvatn (IS) 2013, Detroit 2014, Gmunden 2015, Jakobstad (FI) 2016, Eckernförde (G) 2016, Bucharest (RO) 2017, and Switzerland (CH).

Hiking and taping in Finnish National Landscapes – Kolin luontokeskus Ukko 10.6.–30.9.2019

EXPEDITIONS FOR SITE-SPECIFIC ART is a collaborative art project between two visual artists: Juha Allan Ekholm (FIN) and Tuomo Kangasmaa (FIN). The work is a series of installations that combines photography and media art with site-specific and environmental installations.

The artists have created a working method based in camping that takes place close to wilderness and national parks. Small land art interventions: daily hikings and installations built to wildlife diffenrentiate the chosen site from its surroundings by using a caution tape and marks, forming silent statements in the landscape.

The working itself could be characterized by ”creating sculptures in the landscape by using tape”. The installations don´t leave any permanent marks in the landscape nor harm their targets by any means. The intention lies in forcing the spectator to note them and re-consider the scene thus creating different meanings in his/her mind. The scenes are documented and then taken down.The result is a momentary installation and an act of environmental art.

Together with art and camping, EXPEDITIONS FOR SITE-SPECIFIC ART includes social cohesion and reflective thinking about the relations between art, environment and humanity. Geographically, Ekholm and Kangasmaa`s artistic interest in this work can be defined to lie in the North and the national scenery -without national or international boundaries.

Paikkasidonnaisen taiteen tutkimusmatkat 3.9.–23.11.2018

Juha Allan Ekholmin ja Tuomo Kangasmaan ympäristötaideprojekti rantautuu Enontekiölle Tunturi-Lapin luontokeskukseen. Juha Allan Ekholmin ja Tuomo Kangasmaan tutkimusmatkat muodostavat nykytaiteen keinoin tekijöittensä omaa tulkintaa siitä, mitä pohjoisella tarkoitetaan. Projektin tuloksena syntyvä näyttely on esillä luontokeskuksessa 3.9.–23.11.2018.

Tuomo Kangasmaa: Valkoinen elefantti

Tila Galleria toimii projektitilana ja sisällön tuottamisen keskiönä interventioille ja kaupunkitilaa haltuunottaville taideteoille. Viikolla 1.6.- 6.6. pidetään intensiiviviikko, jolloin taiteilijaryhmä toteuttaa Tila-gallerian ympäristössä suurimman osan teoista, jotka pureutuvat Kamppiin niin valokuvan, äänen, kuvataiteen, runojen, kuin performanssitaiteenkin keinoin. Tämä taidetekojen kuukausi huipentuu Tila-gallerian ympäristössä pidettäviin iltamiin keskiviikona 24.6. 2015 klo 15 – 18. Luvassa on niin karibialaisia rytmejä, taidetta kuin tykötarvettakin, ja koko Kampissa vaeltava kansa on lämpimästi tervetullut!
