Snowball Effect - Northern Finland Biennale
in the Rovaniemi Art Museum, 12.6. -28.9.2014

LUMIPALLOEFEKTI

Rovaniemen taidemuseon kesänäyttely esittelee Pohjois-Suomen taidetta laajasti.
Lumipalloefekti kääntää katseen Rovaniemelle. Näyttely esittää monimuotoisen
otoksen tämän hetkisestä pohjoisesta nykytaiteesta. Näyttely on Korundissa ja
Arktikumin gallerioissa 12.6.–28.9.2014. Näyttelyn kuraattoriksi on kutsuttu
helsinkiläinen FM Laura Köönikkä, joka vastikään perusti Helsinkiin taidepalveluja
tarjoavan toimiston Finnish Art Agencyn.

Hildegard Projekt: Haute Sculpture on Radio Študent

On a show on Radio Študent, entitled Fine umetnosti, journalist Miha Turk gave his review about the exhibition Hildegard Projekt: Haute Sculpture. He said that the exhibition brings an interesting reflexion about the creative process, where the exhibition itself is just a cherry on top of the whole process.

On the website of Radio Študent we can read the following words: »In one room, there is just a projection of a picture of eleven empty chairs and in the corner of the last room artworks are crammed as if they were stored in a depot. It is not clear if the result was the intention of the artists from the beginning or the conceptual nature of the exhibition is the outcome of some kind of a complication, which can happen when working in a group. But this is not actually important. Works, packed in the last room, are very meaningful. On one hand the physical material gives the alibi to the conceptually strong statement in other, almost empty, spaces. The artworks itself are the most abstract part of the exhibition. By itself they are just requisites, which indirectly give meaning and value to the biographies of the artists, who struggle from project to project. Projects, which have a practical value just because they enable the following projects.«

Haute Sculpture

The project is offering a new, extended perspective on the relationship between the curator and the artist, an experimental form of self-organization and creative process, where each participant has its own critical view on the joint process and proposed solutions, which should endure immediate judgment and responses of other group members.

AV-arkki & Arktisen upeeta elokuvafestivaali juhlivat yhdessä! 13.-16.2.2014, Jyväskylässä

Arktisen upeeta -elokuvafestivaalin 15. juhlavuosi alkaa torstaina 13. helmikuuta Jyväskylässä. AV-arkki täyttää kuluvana vuonna 25 vuotta. Arktisen upeeta ja AV-arkki juhlistavat tätä yhteisellä erikoisohjelmistolla.

Sirkus Finnbohemia

Oulussa 90 -luvulla vaikuttanut Avantgardistinen performanssiryhmä Sirkus Finnbohemia löytyy nyt Wikipediasta. Ryhmä pyrki tietoisesti hämmentämään oululaista kulttuurielämää rakentamalla paikallisista normeista poikkeavaa omaehtoista taidetta.Oululaisessa esitystaidekentässä se ei kuitenkaan ollut vierasta; jo 1980-luvun lopulla kaupungin kulttuuri-identiteettiä muokkasivat  instituutioita kumartelematta mm. Mieskuoro Huutajat ja orkesteri Radiopuhelimet. Tosin performance oli vielä 1990-luvun alussa Oulussa hyvin marginaalista, siksi Sirkus Finbohemian luoma ajattelu oli paikallisessa kulttuurikentässä uusi alku.
