Pohjoinen Kohtaaminen / Northern Encounters: the artists of the Northern Finland regional photographic art exhibition have been chosen
The artists and art works for the Northern Finland regional photographic art exhibition Pohjoinen Kohtaaminen (Northern Encounters) have been chosen. The exhibition has been juried by Gunilla Muhr, the head of the Art Department of University College of Arts, Craft and Design, Konstfack in Stockholm, together with the director Alla Räisänen and producer Julia Heikkinen from The Northern Photographic Centre.
The call was open for all photographers living and working in the North, as well as for all artists dealing with the theme and concept of the North in their works. 59 applications with 70 proposals were received. The most applications came from Northern Finland but also from other parts of Finland and from Europe as well.

Syyskuussa 2017 avautuvan Pohjois-Suomen valokuvataiteen aluenäyttelyn Pohjoinen Kohtaaminen taiteilijat ja teokset on valittu. Näyttelyn ovat juryttaneet ruotsalaisen taideteollisen korkeakoulu Konstfackin taiteen osaston johtaja Gunilla Muhr Tukholmasta yhdessä Pohjoisen valokuvakeskuksen johtaja Alla Räisäsen sekä tuottaja Julia Heikkisen kanssa.
Näyttelyhaku oli avoinna kaikille pohjoisessa asuville ja työskenteleville sekä pohjoista töissään käsitteleville valokuvaajille. Näyttelyyn saapui hakuajan loppuun mennessä 59 hakemusta, joissa ehdotettiin yhteensä 70 teoskokonaisuutta näyttelyyn. Hakemuksia saatiin eniten Pohjois-Suomesta mutta myös muualta Suomesta sekä Euroopasta.
